Work Time | Thailand practices a six-day workweek, with the maximum work hours not exceeding 8 hours per day or 48 hours per week. For work deemed harmful to health, daily working hours are limited to 7 hours or 42 hours per week. |
Probation | Thai law does not specify a minimum number of days for a probationary period, but it is common practice for Thai employers to set probationary periods at 119 days or less. This is because, if the employment relationship lasts less than 120 days, no severance pay is required when terminating an employee. |
Types of Employment | In Thailand, employment types include full-time, part-time, seasonal, informal, temporary, and contract workers; with continuous employment exceeding 2 years being considered as permanent employment. |
Resignation regulations | 1. Society does not condone arbitrary dismissals; in practice, they should be handled with utmost caution. 2. In the event that either the employer or the employee wishes to terminate the employment contract, a written notice must be issued to the other party, which can be done either during the wage payment or prior to it, aiming to conclude the contract by the next payroll period. 3. If the dismissal notice is given after the pay day, the notice period is extended to two months. |
Labor Contract | While a written form for employment contracts is not mandatory, it is advisable for employers and employees to enter into a written agreement that includes the following provisions: - Remuneration (Salary) - Pay period (Frequency of wage payment) - Annual leave and other types of leave entitlements - Notice period required for termination of the employment relationship |
